Ann (Frances) CARNEGIE

Obituary (from newspaper of 9 Oct. 1973):  CLAYTON---Mrs. Frances C. Brown, 66, widow of Ernest A. Brown, died this morning at 7 at her home, 238 James St.

    The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, here Rev. Richard Barton, pastor, Clayton United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be on Grindstone Island.

    Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    She is survived by three sons, Robert and John, Clayton, and Ernest, Grindstone Island; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Hill, Florida, Mrs. Mary Lou Garnsey, Clayton; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Ross, Syracuse, Mrs. Eunice Dano, Clayton; 27
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

    She was born in January, 1907, in Syracuse, and was adopted by James and Ann Slate Carnegie.  Most of her life was spent on Grindstone Island, where she attended shools.  She had lived the past 17 years in Clayton.  She was married to
Ernest A. Brown Aug. 16, 1924, in the Clayton Methodist parsonage.  He died Sept. 20, 1957.
