Jane F. CUMMINGS

Obituary from newspaper of 3 June 1968:  CLAYTON--Mrs. Jane F. Haas, 79, of 509 Jane street, Clayton, widow of Charles E. Haas, died Saturday at 4:05 p.m. at the Mercy hospital, Watertown, where she had been a patient since March 20. Mrs. Haas
became ill while vacationing in St. Petersburg, Fla.

    A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., at Cummings funeral home, Clayton.  A funeral mass will follow at 9 at St. Mary's church.  Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

    Friends may call at the funeral home today fom 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Mrs. Haas is survived by three nephews; Walter P. Cummings, 214 Sterling street, Charles M. Cummings, 156 Winthrop street, and Paul F. Cummings, Mountain View, Calif., and a niece, Mrs. Richard (Mary Catherine) Shootman, Salt Lake City,
Utah.

    Mrs. Haas' husband, Charles, died at their residence Aug. 24, 1950.  A brother, Walter P. Cummings, former funeral director of Watertown and Clayton, died April 21, 1952.

    Born May 19, 1889, in the town of Clayton, a daughter of Charles W. and Mary McCarthy Cummings, Mrs. Haas attended schools in Clayton, the Conservatory of Music, Watertown, studied under Van Elting at Syracuse university, and received her
degree following studies at the Conservatory of Music in New York.

    She had a music studio in Watertown and had been a music teacher in the village of Clayton.  She also taught at Dexter High school.  Before moving to Clayton, Mrs. Haas had lived at Dexter, Brownville and Watertown.
