Obituary:  CHAUMONT---The funeral of Ulyses D. Potter was held Saturday Afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Episcopal Church of Chaumont.  Bearers were Arthur Wiltsie, George Cooke, Bert Hotis, George Howland, Charles and Elmer Brown.

    Mr. Potter was born Sept. 23, 1865 on Grindstone Island, son of the late Augustus and Mary McCuen Potter.  When about two years old he moved with his parents to Ohio, later residing on Grindstone Island, where he spent his earlier boyhood.
He was married to Adah L. Hilts on July 27, 1888, oldest daughter of the late Duane and Maria Cratsenberg Hilts, who died in 1901.  On June 9, 1902, he married the youngest daughter of Duane and Maria Cratsenberg Hilts, Hattie Belle, who
survives.

    Surviving besides his widow are eight children, Augustus D. Potter of Evans Mills, Mrs. R. McKenzie of Watertown, Raymond H. Potter of Clayton, Mrs. Lewis Watson of Theresa, Mrs. Melzar Dano of Grindstone Island, Julia Marjorie and Marie
Potter who reside at home.  One sister, Cora Nolan of Oregon, two brothers, Nelson Potter, Alexandria Bay, Ernest Potter, Clayton, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Mr. Potter was charter member of Grand I.O.O.F. lodge No. 801 of Chaumont and member of Methodist Episcopal Church of Chaumont.  Burial was made in the family plot at Chaumont Cemetery.
