Robert BALCOM

Obituary (from newspaper of 3 Nov. 1973):  PULASKI---Robert E. Balcom, 82, of 7549 Delono St., died at 6:45 a.m. today in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient 17 days.

    The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church, Pulaski, Rev. Richard Clay officiating.  Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home Sunday 7 to 9, Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    He is survived by his widow, Zilthia; two sons, Arthur, Greenlawn, L.I. and Alvin, Keene, N.H.; three brothers, Charles, Rolan, and Vann, Pulaski, and seven grandchildren.

    He was born March 15, 1891, at Redfield, a son of Eban and Ella Fox Balcom.  He attended Redfield School and was employed in New York City as a fireman.

    He returned to Pulaski in 1919 and took a job with the New York Central Railroad, retiring in 1956.

    He was married Dec. 25, 1932, to Zilthia McNitt in Pulaski.

    He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and served as a vestryman for years.  He was also a member of the Pulaski I.O.O.F.
