George B. SCHNAUBER

Obituary from the Watertown Daily Times of 16 April 1934: DEPAUVILLE--George B. Schnauber, 72, for the past 24 years an invalid, died at 7:40 this morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles Lowe, this village.  He had been seriously ill
for some time and for a while he was a patient at the House of the Good Samaritan at Watertown.

    Mr. Schnauber was born in the town of Clayton, June 30, 1861, a son of Augustus and Elizabeth Swind Schnauber.  He had always resided in Depauville where he was engaged in farming until 24 years ago when he was stricken with paralysis and
had since been an invalid, confined to a wheel chair.

    He was a member of the Depauville Methodist Episcopal church, the Masonic lodge and also of the Depauville grange.

    Surviving him besides his wife Mrs. Anna Whittier Swind Schnauber, Ogdensburg, and one daughter, Miss Clare Schnauber, Ogdensburg; two sisters, Mrs. Lowe, at whose home he died, and Mrs. Elizabeth Linnell of Clayton, and one brother,
Augustus Schnauber, Depauville.

    Funeral services will be held from the home of Mrs. Lowe at 2 Thursday afternoon with Rev. C. A. Robinson, pastor of the Depauville Methodist Episcopal church, officiating.  Burial will be made in the local cemetery.


Anna E. WHITTIER

Obituary:  LaFARGEVILLE, Aug. 11--Mrs. Anna E. Whittier Schnauber, 96, widow of George B. Schnauber, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in an Ogdensburg hospital.

    The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the home of a sister, Mrs. Fred (Kate) Jerome, LaFargeville, with Rev. F. K. Vogt, retired pastor of the Concordia Lutheran church, Watertown, officiating.  Burial will be in Depauville.

    Mrs. Schnauber is survived by her sister and a daughter, Miss Clara Schnauber, Ogdensburg.

    She was born Jan. 31, 1865, in the town of Clayton, a daughter of Alderman and Frances McNett Whittier.  She taught shcool and then became a dressmaker before her marriage.  She was married to Mr. Schnauber, Depauville, in 1891 at the home
of her stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Eckert.

    The couple farmed near Depauville until Mr. Schnauber retired in 1910 due to illness.  He died April 16, 1934.

    Mrs. Schnauber was a member of the Depauville Methodist church.
