Lillian M. SULIER

Obituary from Watertown Daily Times of 28 Jan. 2000:  CLAYTON--Lillian M. Diabo, 84, Bartlett Point Road, died Thursday evening at the home of her daughter, Marie D. Heyman, East Line Road, where she had resided since Dec. 30.

    Mrs. Diabo was a cook at various restaurants in the Clayton area, including the Thousand Islands Bowling Alley and the Golden Anchor.

    Born July 5, 1915, in Lebanon, N.H., daughter of Charles and Nellie M. Boyd Sulier, she attended Lebanon and Grindstone Island schools.

    She married Baptiste J. Diabo on July 3, 1928, in Watertown.  Mr. Diabo, an employee of the village of Clayton, died Feb. 23, 1967.

    Mrs. Diabo was a member of Clayton United Methodist Church, an avid bingo player and a former member of the LaFargeville American Legion Auxiliary.

    Surviving besides her daughter are four sons and three daughters-in-law, John B., Alexandria Bay, Edward L. and Barbara, Rochester, Larry W. and Karen, Clayton, and James K. and Tammy, LaFargeville; three other daughters and two
sons-in-law, Eva M. and Lake Nicholas, Arcadia, Fla., Louise J. Calhoun, Tampa, Fla., and Shirley A. and Benjamin Fisher, Clayton; a brother, Ralph Sulier, Rome; three sisters, Catherine Black, LaFargeville, Mrs.  Alfred (Winnifred) Scales,
Cape Vincent, and Mrs. Robert (Frances) Ward, Rome; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Two daughters, Carol N. Bush and Frances Diabo, and five brothers, Leo, Andrew, Frank, Richard and Raymond Sulier, died before her.

    The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Clayton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph A. DeGroote, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Cummings Funeral Home.

    Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County.

Obituary from Watertown Daily Times of 1 Oct. 1921: CLAYTON---Mrs. Delia Diabo, aged 91 years, died yesterday in the state hospital at Ogdensburg after a long illness.  The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 from the home here and at
9 from St. Mary's church, with burial in Clayton cemetery.

    Mrs. Diabo was born in Clayton and had lived practically her entire life here.  She was twice married.  Surviving are two daughters, Miss Mary Phillipe and Mrs. Josephine Light of Montreal; five sons, Albert and Peter Phillipe of Montreal,
John and Joseph Diabo of Holyoke, Mass., Israel Diabo and Baptist Diabo of Clayton.

Obituary as found in newspaper of Thursday, 20 Aug. 1992:  CLAYTON---Caroline P. Wright, 94, of 10 Boudinot St., Princeton, N.J., died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the family's summer home on Long Point, Grindstone Island, town of Clayton.

    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, Clayton, with the Rev. Kathleen Adams-Shepherd, rector, officiating.  The body will be cremated.  Burial will be in Easton (Pa.) Historic Cemetery.

    Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Home.  Donations may be made to Edward John Noble Hospital, Fuller Street, Alexandria Bay.

    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth W. Meirs, Grindstone Island and Princeton, N.J., and Mrs. F. Sheppard (Emily W.) Holt, Grindstone Island and Winchester, Mass.; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; several nieces,
nephews, and cousins.

    Two daughters, Sara Robbins and Caroline Browne, two brothers, George A. Post and Joseph C. Post, a half-brother, Sydney Goodrich, and a sister, Emily Post, died before her.

    Born Nov. 19, 1897, in Richmond Hill, Long Island, daughter of George A. and Emily Kent Post, she was educated in Summerville, N.J., and married Wilson D. C. Wright Jan. 15, 1918, at the Church of the Resurrection, Richmond Hill, Long
Island.  The couple moved to Princeton, N.J., where Mr. Wright died April 27, 1951.

    Mrs. Wright was a housewife and a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Clayton.
