Albert Herman DORR

Obituary (from newspaper of 13 Nov. 1974):  CLAYTON---A. Herman Dorr, 67, Underbluff Road, LaFargeville, Route 1, a maintenance employee of the Town of Clayton, was stricken ill and died while sitting in a car in the yard of the town barns at
Depauville Tuesday.  Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies investigated.

    The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Rev. Durward K. Winner officiating.  Burial will be in Depauville Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

    He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dorr; eight children: Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Gerwitz, Angola; Mrs. Lawrence (Phyllis) Angel, R.N., Bellevue, Ohio; Capt. Janice Amidon, Eatonville, N.J., a registered nurse serving with the Army at Fort
Monmouth, N.J.; Mrs. Robert (Donna) Wicinski, R.N., Mount Airy, Md.; Wayne H., Clayton; Miss Lyla Ann Dorr, Syracuse; Miss Nancy Dorr, at home, and CTI Dennis Dorr, serving with the Navy at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; 19 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs.
Fred (Ruth) Gould, Depauville, and a brother, Harold, Phoenix, Ariz.

    Born on Grindstone Island Oct. 17, 1907, son of Alfred and Margaret Turcott Dorr, he attended schools in Binghamton and the Town of Clayton.  He married Dorothy Hartman March 5, 1933, at Copenhagen, Rev. Frank Brown officiating.

    A farmer most of his working life, he operated farms in the Towns of Ellisburg, Cape Vincent, and Clayton, returning to the Town of Clayton in 1958 and operating a farm there.

    He was also a carpenter and had worked with the Lane Construction Co. during construction of Route 81.


Lila Ann DORR

Obituary (from newspaper of Sunday, 11 July 1993):  DEPAUVILLE---Funeral services for Lila A. Dorr, 51, of 2511 Grant Blvd., Syracuse, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the T. R. Jetty Funeral Home, Clayton, with the Rev. Joseph DeGroote,
pastor of the Depauville United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Depauville Cemetery.

    Private calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    Donations may be made to the National Wildlife Foundation, 1400 16th St. NW, Washington, D.C., 20036-2266.

    Miss Dorr died Thursday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse where she was taken after being stricken at home with a heart attack.

    She is survived by her mother, Dorothy, of Depauville; five sisters, Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Gerwitz, Angola, Mrs. Lawrence (Phyllis) Angel, Allison, Pa., Janice Amidon, Fayetteville, N.C., Mrs. Robert (Donna) Wicinski, Mt. Airy, Md., and
Nancy Dorr of Depauville; two brothers, Wayne, of Clayton and Dennis, of Pensacola, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

    Born in Mannsville on Feb. 5, 1942, the daughter of Hermon and Dorothy Hartman Dorr, she attended schools in Clayton and was a clerical worker for over 20 years at Dunn and Bradstreet in Syracuse.

    For the past three years, she was a secretary at the Hanover Insurance Co. in Liverpool.

    Miss Dorr was a member of the National Wildlife Federation and an avid reader.
