Joseph H. "Pete" HUNT

Obituary (from Thousand Islands Sun of 16 Nov. 1983):  ALEXANDRIA BAY---Joseph H. (Pete) Hunt, age 60, of 82 Church St., died Nov. 14 at the E.J. Noble Hospital where he'd been a patient since Nov. 8.

    There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Cyril's Catholic Church with the Rev. James Meehan officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clayton.

    Donations may be made in his name to the intensive care unit of E. J. Noble Hospital or Holland Library, Alexandria Bay.

    He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Bette) Curtiss Hunt; two sons, Peter J., Clayton, and Thomas K., Long Branch, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Cathryn E.) Saunders, Watertown and Mrs. J. Joseph (Sally M.) Bogenschutz, Clayton; his
mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Hunt and a brother Timothy P., both of Morristown; one sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Mary Elizabeth) Balcom, Florida; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

    Born Apr. 22, 1923 in Alexandria Bay, the son of Joseph Harold and Elizabeth Hill Hunt, he graduated from Alexandria Bay High School in 1940.  In November 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served 10 months as a P-47 fighter
pilot with the 396th Squadron of the 368th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force in Europe.  He was discharged in 1945 as a first lieutenant.

    Mr. Hunt married the former Elizabeth Curtiss of Ohio on Jan. 12, 1946 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph R. Lucas, pastor, officiating.

    In the fall of 1946 Mr. Hunt enrolled in Kent State University. He worked in Ohio


Cecelia CRABB

Obituary:  THERESA.  Jan. 6.---Celia Crabb Sheley, widow of Nelson Sheley, died at 3 o'clock this morning at her home in this village, aged 68 years.  She had been ill for the last week with influenza.

    Mrs. Sheley was born at Norfolk, her maiden name being Celia Crabb.  She was three times married, her first husband being Jerry Maloney of Norfolk.  They moved to Theresa about 40 years ago.  After his death she became the wife of Charles
A. Wilcox who died in 1908, and she was later united in marriage to Mr. Sheley, whose death occurred five years ago.

    Mrs. Sheley was a member of the Methodist Church, the Home Missionary Society and Sunday School Society thereof, and of the Theresa Chapter, O. E. S., in which she held the office of warden.  Surviving are two brothers, Albert Crabb of
Norfolk and Charles of Seneca Falls; a stepson, Clarence G. Wilcox and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ross McCue and Mrs. Frank Potter of Clayton.

    The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the C. A. Giltz undertaking parlors.  The Rev. W. G. Atwell will officiate and burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
