Nettie M. FARR

Obituary (from newspaper of Tuesday, 30 March 1993):  GOUVERNEUR---The funeral for Nettie M. Knight, 105, Kinney Nursing Home, a native of St. Lawrence Corners, town of Cape Vincent, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Green Funeral Home with
the Rev. Everett Prud'Homme, pastor of Hammond Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Lawrence Union Cemetery, town of Cape Vincent, later in the spring.

    Mrs. Knight died early Monday in the Kinney Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since April 1990.

    Calling hours will be 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to the Edward John Noble Hospital Auxiliary, Gouverneur.

    Surviving are nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-granddaughter.

    A son, Harold, and a daughter, Marjorie Shaw, died previously.  A grandchild, two great-grandchildren,a great-great-grandchild, and three brothers also died before her.

    She was born Feb. 20, 1888, at St. Lawrence Corners, town of Cape Vincent, a daughter of Ira and Carrie Hay Farr.  She attended school at St. Lawrence Corners.

    She married Augustus E. Knight Feb. 22, 1906, in Chaumont.

    The couple farmed at St. Lawrence Corners and later lived with their daughter and son-in-law, the late Marjorie and Roy E. Shaw, on Champion Road, town of Rutland.  Mr. Knight died Feb. 25, 1947, at the age of 64.

    Mrs. Knight lived with grandchildren in the Watertown area and on the Lockie Road, Gouverneur, before entering the nursing home.

    She was a member of the St. Lawrence Corners Methodist Church.


Harold A. KNIGHT

Obituary (from newspaper of Saturday, 14 Feb. 1981):  REDWOOD---Harold A. Knight, 72, Redwood, died at 6:15 p.m. Friday at the Edward John Noble Hospital, Alexandria Bay, where he had been admitted Feb. 6.  He had been ill six months.

    The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Frederick Brothers Funeral Home here with Rev. Edgar Hunter, Methodist minister, officiating.  Spring burial will be in Redwood Cemetery.

    Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

    He is survived by three sons, George, Rossie, Floyd and Alger, Redwood; three daughters, Mrs. William (Marion) Berard, Syracuse, Mrs. Marshall (Barbara) Martin, West Standy, and Mrs. Ronald (Muriel) Davis, Redwood; his mother, Mrs.
Augustus (Nettie) Knight, 93, Watertown; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  A sister, Mrs. Roy (Marjorie) Shaw, Watertown, died before him.

    Born Aug. 27, 1908, at St. Lawrence Corners, a son of Mrs. Nettie Farr Knight and the late Augustus Knight, he attended rural schools and married Frances Rogers of Redwood.

    The couple operated farms in the Evans Mills and Redwood section until he retired in 1968 due to ill health.

    Mrs. Knight, who had worked as a cook at the Royal Restaurant, Edward John Noble Hospital, and Cavallario's Restaurant, Alexandria Bay, died Dec. 19, 1975, at the age of 66.

    Mr. Knight was a member of the St. Lawrence Corners United Methodist Church.


Frances ROGERS

Obituary (from newspaper of 17 Dec. 1975):  REDWOOD---Mrs. Frances R. Knight, 66, wife of Harold Knight, Redwood, and a cook at Cavallario's Steak House, Alexandria Bay, died at 4 this morning at Edward John Noble Hospital, Alexandria Bay
following a six-month illness.

    The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Frederick Borthers Funeral Home, Redwood, with Rev. Edgar Hunter, Methodist pastor at Plessis and Stone Mills, officiating.  Spring burial will be in Redwood Cemetery.

    Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

    Surviving, are four sons, George, Rossi, Floyd, and Alger, all of Redwood; three daughters, Mrs. William (Marion) Berard, Laurel, Mo., Mrs. Marshall (Barbara) Martin, West Dandy, and Mrs. Ronald (Muriel) Davis, Redwood; a brother, Alton
Rogers, Redwood; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    Born Nov. 5, 1909 in the Town of Theresa, she was one of six children of the late George and Bertha Smith Rogers.

    She married Harold Knight of Cape Vincent, and they farmed near Redwood until five years ago, when they moved to Main St., Redwood.

    She was formerly employed at the Royal Restaurant, Alexandria Bay, and Edward John Noble Hospital, Alexandria Bay, as a cook, and was employed for the last nine years at Cavallario's.
