Francis E. DWYER

Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of 11 Aug. 1961):  DEPAUVILLE---Francis E. Dwyer, 92, died at 2:15 this morning at his home.  He had been in failing health for two years and had been confined to bed since May 12.

   The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home in Clayton, Rev. Clifford W. Sullivan, pastor of the Depauville Methodist Church officiating.  An Odd Fellows service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Depauville Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.  The family has requested that donations be made to the memorial fund of the Depauville Methodist
Church.

    He is survived by three daughters, Miss Olah Dwyer, Depauville, with whom he lived; Mrs. Edwin G. (Mabel) Sternberg, Depauville; Mrs. J. Harold (Maude) McKinley, Clayton; two sons, Edwin F., Syracuse, and Howard V., Chaumont; a brother,
Myron, of Brownville; 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

    He was born Oct. 11, 1868, in the town of Clayton, son of John and Lucy Walts Dwyer.  He attended schools in Depauville and was a life-long resident of this area.  On Oct. 16, 1889 he married Miss Hattie Bamford in the parsonage at the
Methodist Church in Cape Vincent.  She died Jan. 11, 1941.

    Mr. Dwyer was a retired farmer since 1940.  For 15 years he had worked as a caretaker for Carl H. Frink.

    He was assessor of the town of Clayton for 14 years and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, 848, of which he was a 50-year member.  He was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Depauville Grange.


Olah DWYER

Obituary (from newspaper of Thursday, 4 Sep. 1986):  CLAYTON---Olah E. Dwyer, 93, Caroline St., Depauville, died at 4:23 a.m. Wednesday in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient since June 14.

    A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Depauville Cemetery, with Rev. Dale Austin, pastor of the Depauville United Methodist Church, officiating.

    There will be no calling hours.  Arrangements are with the Cummings Funeral Home.

    She is survived by a brother, Edwin F., North Syracuse, and nieces and nephews.  A brother, Howard V., and two sisters, Mable Sternberg and Maude McKinley, died before her.

    Born in Clayton on June 22, 1893, daughter of Francis E. and Hattie Bamford Dwyer, she was educated in Clayton schools.  She never married.

    Miss Dwyer was employed as a grocery clerk for Robert Matthews, Depauville, for many years.  She was a member of the Depauville United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Valley View Rebekah Lodge No. 304.


Howard V. DWYER

Obituary (from newspaper of Thursday, 1 Nov. 1979):  CHAUMONT---Graveside services for Howard V. Dwyer, 69, who died Wednesday morning in Mercy Hospital, Watertown, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Depauville Cemetery with Rev. William Smythe, pastor
of the Chaumont Presbyterian Church, officiating.

    The body was cremated.  There will be no calling hours.  The Becker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.

    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Dwyer; two sons, Ronald, Adams Center, and Jerry, Chaumont; two daughters, Mrs. Homer (Frances) Hedger, Adams, and Mrs. Sharon Giddings, Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a
sister, Miss Olah Dwyer, Depauville, and a brother, Edwin, Mattydale.

    Born at Depauville Oct. 10, 1910, a son of Francis and Hattie Bamford Dwyer, he married Mildred Hall of Adams July 20, 1929 at the home of her parents in Adams with Rev. Miles Hutchinson officiating.

    The couple lived 15 years near Adams later coming to the Chaumont section.

    He managed the Enos estate farm 28 years, retiring in 1975.


Ralph B. DWYER

Obituary (from newspaper of Tuesday, 7 April 1992):  The funeral for Ralph B. Dwyer, 85, of 130 Stuart St., former construction contractor, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynton N. Perry, pastor,
officiating.  Burial will be in St. Lawrence Corners Cemetery, town of Cape Vincent.

    Mr. Dwyer died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tampa, Fla., after being stricken during church services at the Free Methodist Church, Tampa.

    Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.  Contributions may be made to the Free Methodist Church.

    Surviving are his wife, Rowena; four sons, Ralph B. Jr., Ocala, Fla., Carl E., Boca Raton, Fla., James E., Cape Vincent, and William M., Cicero; a daughter, Almyra Hyde, Clayton; a stepdaughter, Jane D. VanBrocklin, Clay; 17 grandchildren;
26 great-granchildren, and a sister, Jean Morton, Palatka, Fla.

    Two brothers, Raymond and Arthur Dwyer, died previously.

    He was born Aug. 21, 1906, in Clayton, a son of Myron and May Collins Dwyer.

    Mr. Dwyer had been employed as a construction contractor throughout New York state.

    He married Blanche Darou.  She died in 1966.  He married Jessie Darou.  She died in June 1973.  He married Rowena Peterson Babcock Jan. 14, 1978, in Dansville.

    Mr. Dwyer had been a winter resident of Florida for 14 years.
