Lowell FELDER

Obituary (from Thousand Islands Sun):  HAMMOND---Lowell Robert Felder, 66, Franklin Street, Hammond, died July 10 at E. J. Noble Hospital, Alexandria Bay, where he had been a patient since July 8.

    The funeral will be Friday, July 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Redwood.  The Rev. James Meehan, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Robert Decker, Clayton, and the Rev. Douglas Decker, Potsdam, both nephews
of Mr. Felder.  Burial will be in the family plot at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Redwood.

    Calling hours will be Thursday, July 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Frederick Brothers Funeral Home, Theresa.  Donations may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church, Redwood, or Morristown-Hammond VFW Post 1106.

    Survivors include: his wife, Clara; one daughter, Mrs. John (Susan) Stine; three sons, Alan, Dale, and Brian, all of Redwood; eight granchildren; two brothers, Rodney O. Felder, Montauk, L.I., and Harry L. Felder, Hyde Park; nieces and
nephews.

    He was born Jan. 3, 1924 in Redwood, son of Otto and Pearl Lambert Felder.  He graduated from Redwood High School in 1942 and entered the U.S. Army Apr. 10, 1943.  He served with the 164th Infantry in the Pacific until being discharged
Dec. 6, 1945.

    He owned and operated an Atlantic Service Station in Redwood for 14 years, and contracted his own school bus for the Alexandria Central School system.  He was justice of the peace in the Town of Alexandria from 1956-64.

    He was postmaster at the Redwood Post Office from 1964-70, and then was an automotive parts salesman until moving in 1979 to Russell, where he served as a substitute school bus driver.  He retired in the early 1980s, and the couple moved
to Hammond where Mrs. Felder served as postmaster.

    He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hammond; a charter member of Morristown-Hammond VFW post where he served as quartermaster; a member of Hunter-Suits Post American Legion, Redwood; honorary member of Redwood Volunteer Fire
Department; member of Jefferson-Lewis Council Boy Scouts of America; and a member of Redwood Fish and Game Club.  He was an avid hunter and golfer.


Norma B. PERCY

Obituary (from newspaper of Thrusday, 16 June 1988):  Norma B. Brooks, 80, Madonna Home, formerly of Harbor Heights Apartments, Sackets Harbor, and The Gables, Adams, owner and operator of the former Sackets Harbor Light Inn Restaurant, died at
7:35 p.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital.

    The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, with Rev. Liam O'Doherty officiating.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor.

    Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sackets Harbor Rescue Squad.

    Surviving are a sister, Veina Leuze, Adams; a niece, Mrs. Rocco (Sharon) Crescenzi, Woodville, and a nephew, Dennis Fisher, Sackets Harbor.

    Three sisters, Mrs. Rupert (Florence) Townsend, Mrs. Earl (Erma) Signor and Doris Percy, died before her.

    Born on Grindstone Island Sept. 16, 1907, a daughter of Ford S. and Lanah Knight Percy, she attended Watertown schools.

    She married Harold E. Brooks in February 1945 at Sackets Harbor with Justice of the Peace Isaac Stokes officiating.  Mr. Brooks died in September 1966.

     Mrs. Brooks owned and operated a restaurant in New York City in the 1920s.  After returning to Sackets Harbor, she became owner and operator of the Sackets Harbor Light Inn Restaurant during the 1950s and 1960s, retiring in 1965.  She was
later employed as a cook at Sackets Inn and was also a housekeeper for Samuel Purden for 27 years at Sackets Harbor.

    She was a member of St. Andrew's Church, Sackets Harbor, and a charter member of the Sackets Harbor American Legion Post 1757.
