Jannette Alida (Nettie) DODGE

Obituary:  CLAYTON, Feb. 3.---The funeral of Mrs. Janette A. Dodge Sheley, 88, who died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Rohn, Bloomfield, N.J., last Saturday, will be held at the Cummings Funeral Home in this
village at 2 Wednesday afternoon.

    Mrs. Sheley, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Dodge, was the widow of Charles O. Sheley of Clayton and was a native of this town.  Her husband died 29 years ago and she had since resided at 321 Merrick St., Clayton.  About six
weeks ago, however, she went to visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rohn, in Bloomfield, N.J., and died there after an illness of about three weeks.  She had spent the most of her married life on a farm in the town of Clayton.

    She was a member of the Clayton Methodist Church, of the Clayton chapter, O.E.S., and of the Clayton Grange.

    Mrs. Sheley is survived by her daughter, Mrs. W. L. (Doris) Rohn; two grandchildren, Janette Kopple, Schenectady, and Charles L. Rohn, Bloomfield, N.J., and by one great-grandchild, Suzanne Kopple.

Obituary (from newspaper of 25 June 1987):  SACKETS HARBOR---Ruth Boulton Peterman, 78, Tampa, Fla., formerly of Sackets Harbor, died of heart failure June 25 at University Community Hospital, Tampa.

    A graveside service was held at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Tampa.  Arrangements were with the Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon, Fla.

    Surviving are a stepdaughter, Joyce Costello, Florida; two nieces, Mrs. Louise Maysuch, Webster, and Mrs. Christine Eckhoff, Sackets Harbor; three nephews, Merle Boulton, Sackets Harbor, Larry Boulton, Sodus Point, and Frank Boulton,
Muamelle, Ark., and several step-nieces and step-nephews.

    A brother, Kern C. Boulton, formerly of Sackets Harbor, died Jan. 24, 1972.

    Born April 1, 1909, on the Boulton farmily farm at Sackets Harbor, she was a daughter of Orin and Winnie Dodge Boulton, direct descendants of one of the town's oldest families.  She was graduated from Sackets Harbor School in 1926 and
moved to Albany, where she was graduated from Albany Hospital Nurse Training School in September 1931.

    On July 18, 1933, she married George Trapp.  She lived in Albany for nearly 30 years before moving to Tampa 26 years ago.  Mr. Trapp died in August 1962 in Tampa.

    She married Sidney Peterman, of Tampa, on Oct. 5, 1964.  Mr. Peterman, formerly of Seneca Falls, died in September 1985.

    Mrs. Peterman was a direct descendant of Henry Boulton, who came from England and settled at Sackets Harbor in 1836.  Mr. Boulton, a stonemason, did many of the stone works in the village.

Leander BRABANT

Leander was educated in the common schools of his province, and located on Garden Island, where he remained until about 1850.  He then came to Clayton, where he spent the rest of his life, dying in 1896.
