Obituary (from Town & Country News of 17 July 1985):  CLAYTON---The funeral for Charles W. (Stub) Hyde, 64, was held Thursday at the Cummings Funeral Home and at St. Mary's Church with Msgr. Herbert H. Hannan, pastor, officiating.  Burial was
in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    Mr. Hyde, Sand Bay Road, Route 2, husband of Almyra M. Hyde, died Monday, July 8, 1985 at his home.  He had been in failing health several years.

    Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Vincent Volunteer Ambulance Fund.

    Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Brenda) Aubertine, Clayton; seven grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Pete), LaFargeville, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Born Aug. 20, 1920, in Clayton, a son of William and Zuba McAvoy Hyde, he was graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1938 and married Almyra M. Dwyer on May 4, 1944 at St. Mary's Church.

    He had been a farmer many years on the Sand Bay Road until retiring due to ill health.

    A World War II veteran, he served in the Marines from October 1942 to January 1944.  He participated in the invasion of Tarawa.

    Mr. Hyde was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
