Robert Gerald BAZINET

Obituary (from newspaper of 13 Aug. 1969):  CLAYTON---R. Gerald Bazinet, 63, of 608 Theresa St., retired shipping clerk of the Clayton Manufacturing Co., was found dead in his car this morning about 11:15.

    Apparently feeling ill, he had stopped the car beside the road, as he was returning home after having been to the village dump.  He had a heart condition the past two and a half years.

    The body was taken to the Cummings Funeral Home.

    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (June) Hill, and two sons, Robert G. and Harry W., all of Clayton; five brothers and two sisters: Mrs. J. Bernard (Doris) Wade, Chicago, Ill., Noel A., Clayton, a sailor on the Great Lakes, J. George
and Amos W., both of Clayton, Lawrence F., Niagara Falls, Mrs. Otis (Rosemary) Radley, Cape Vincent, and Leonard A., who left this morning for his home in Niagara Falls after visiting here, and eight grandchildren.

    Two brothers, Donald J. and Charles H., have died.

    Robert Gerald Bazinet was born June 7, 1906, in Clayton, one of ten children of Joseph and Helen Brabant Bazinet.  He attended local schools and spent his life in Clayton.  He was employed as shipping clerk for Clayton Manufacturing Co.,
retiring because of his health two years ago, after working for the company 46 years.

    On April 18, 1927, he married Miss Edith May Higgins, a native of Point Peninsula, in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Rosiere.  Mrs. Bazinet died at the age of 57 on April 20, 1965.

    Mr. Bazinet was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Clayton Council, Knights of Columbus, and the Clayton Fire Department of which he was on exempt status, having formerly been active.


Charles H. BAZINET

Obituary (from 1000 Islands Sun of 2 May 1963):  CLAYTON---Charles Bazinet, 46, Clayton-Cape Vincent Road, a welder employed by the Frink Sno-Plow Co., died Sunday, April 21 in Mercy Hospital, Watertown, where he had been a patient since April
5.

    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alfreda F. Bazinet; two daughters, Mrs. Patrick (Carol Ann) Daly, Baldwinsville, Miss Betty Jean Bazinet, Syracuse; a son, Edward L., at home; two sisters; and six brothers.

    Mr. Bazinet was born in Clayton, May 10, 1916, a son of Joseph and Helen Brabant Bazinet.  He had lived in Clayton all his life and had been employed as a welder by Frink Sno-Plow, Inc., since 1941.  He married Miss Alfreda F. Lumley on
Oct. 26, 1936, in St. Mary's Church.  The late Rev. George E. Racette, pastor then, officiated.

    Mr. Bazinet was a member of the Frink Club, the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department and Thousand Islands Council, Knights of Columbus.


Alfreda F. LUMLEY

Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of 9 July 1994):  CLAYTON---Alfreda F. Bazinet, 79, Clayton-Cape Vincent Road, died Friday afternoon at Edward John Noble Hospital-Samaritan, Alexandria Bay, where she had been a patient since May 18.

    A funeral Mass is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Daniel Chapin, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    A calling hour will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cummings Funeral Home.  Contributions may be made to the Clayton Volunteer Ambulance fund or the Friends of E. J. Noble Hospital-Samaritan Memorial Fund.

    Surviving are a son, Edward L., Cranberry Lake; a daughter, Betty J. Wiloughby, Clayton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Erwin Lumley, Canandaigua; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Marion) Anderson, Satellite Beach,
Fla., and Alice Ure, Carthage, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    A daughter, Carol A. Daly, died May 23, 1983, and a sister, Mildred M. Schell, died July 27, 1993.  A brother, Edward M. Lumley, died in 1937.

    Born Dec. 4, 1914, in Croghan, daughter of Vincent L. and Nellie M. Palmer Lumley, she graduated from Carthage High School in 1932 and from the Carthage Teachers Training Class in 1933.

    She moved in 1934 to Clayton, where she married Charles H. Bazinet on Oct. 26, 1936, in St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. George E. Racette officiating.  Mr Bazinet, a welder for Frink Sno-Plow Co., died April 21, 1963, at the age of 46.

    Mrs. Bazinet was a waitress from 1934 to 1974 at several restaurants in the Clayton area, including the Dorr-Fitz Restaurant in Clayton and the Thousand Islands Club on Wellesley Island.

    She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, and a member of the Clayton American Legion Colon-Couch Post 821 Auxiliary and the Clayton Knights of Columbus Post 350 Ladies Auxiliary.  She was also a member of the St. Ann's Society and a
charter member of the Clayton Fire Department Auxiliary.


J. George BAZINET

Obituary (from newspaper of 9 Oct. 1970):  CLAYTON---The funeral for J. George Bazinet, 59, of 622 Union St., who died Friday noon at the C-Way Tour-inn Motel and Golf Club after playing golf, will be Monday at 8:30 a.m., at the Cummings
Funeral Home, Clayton, and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Msgr. Dennis Lynch, pastor, officiating.   Burial is in St. Mary's Church Cemetery.

    Calling hours are Saturday and Sunday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

    He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Cantwell Bazinet; two sons, Peter John and Patrick Joseph, both of Clayton; three daughters, Mrs. William (Mary Helen) LaLond, Clayton, Miss Virginia Elaine Bazinet and Miss Jean Elizabeth Bazinet,
Clayton; four brothers, Amos and Noel, Clayton, Lawrence, Niagara Falls, and Leonard, Tonawanda; and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Wade, Chicago, and Mrs. Otis (Rosemary) Bradley, Cape Vincent, and five grandchildren.

    Born in Clayton Aug. 28, 1911, a son of Joseph and Helen Brabant Bazinet, he attended local schools and was graduated from St. Mary's School.

    He worked at the Clayton A & P for years and two years after his marriage to Mary Cantwell on Sept. 3, 1934, at St. Mary's Church, moved to Adams, where he was assistant manager at the A & P.  He returned to Clayton in 1943 and went to
work for Frink Sno-Plow.  He had worked there until ill health forced him to retire in 1957.

    In 1959, he became manager of Aubrey's Thousand Island Bowling Center, Clayton.  He worked there until his death.

    Mr. Bazinet was a veteran of World War II, past commander of the Colon-Couch Post 821, American Legion, past grand knight of the Clayton K. of C. and a member of the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department, and Frink Club.


Robert R. HILL

Obituary (from Town & Country News of 6 Jan. 1982):  The funeral for Robert R. Hill, 55, of 608 Theresa St., who died suddenly late Thursday morning, Dec. 24, 1981, was held Saturday at the Cummings Funeral Home.

    Msgr. Herbert H. Hannan, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiated.

    Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    Mr. Hill, employed at New York Air Brake Co., Watertown, for the past 17 years, was stricken ill at home, was stricken ill at home, and was pronounced dead on arrival at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, at 11:19 a.m. Thursday.

    Surviving are his wife, June; two sons, Gerald V., Depauville, and Timothy, Clayton; two brothers, William, Clayton, and Gerald, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Garner, Clayton, and Mrs. Vern Stayer, Michigan; five grandchildren and
nieces and nephews.

    Born Oct. 16, 1926 in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of Brayton and Rachel Brill Hill.  He came to Clayton at an early age and graduated from schools here.

    He married the former June Bazinet on June 6, 1953 at St. Mary's Church.

    Mr. Hill worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before going to New York Air Brake.


June BAZINET

Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of 30 Apr. 2000):  CLAYTON---June M. Hill, 69, of 912 Strawberry Lane, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday at Edward John Noble Hospital-Samaritan, Alexandria Bay, where she had been a patient since April 14.

    Mrs. Hill was a machine operator and seamstress at Johnstown Knitting Mill and a cook at the Thousand Islands Inn and St. Mary's School cafeteria.  She had also been a chambermaid at C-Way Inn.

   Born Feb. 23, 1931, in Clayton, daughter of Gerald and Edith Higgins Bazinet, she was educated in Clayton schools.

    She married Robert R. Hill on June 6, 1953, in St. Mary's Church with the Rev. George E. Racette officiating.  Mr. Hill was a member of the Army Corps of Engineers on the St. Lawrence Seaway project and an employee at New York Air Brake
Co., Watertown.  He died Dec. 31, 1981.

    Mrs. Hill was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.

    Surviving are two sons, Gerald V. and Timmy P., both of Clayton; two brothers, her twin, Robert G. Bazinet, and Harry W. Bazinet, both of Clayton; four grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    A prayer service will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Cummings Funeral Home, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
